On the Japanese translation, there are some news. Tsutomu Takagi, a Japanese living in Barcelona from many time ago and friend of mine from more of twenty years, completed the translation of chapter three of Harry's book, "Spain", into Japanese language. Tsutomu is a close friend of professor Yo Kawanari, of Tokio's Hosei University, an hispanist expert in Spanish litterature that after knowing at the end of the seventies the existence of Jack Shirai, decided to write a biography of the legendary "cook with a gun". Kawanari interviewed many people related with Jack, specially Al Tanz, that, as you remember, Harry mentions in his book as an excellent baseball pitcher at Albares. Kawanari published his book in 1989 "Spanish war. Jack Shirai and the International Brigades". He is also the author of several other books on Spanish subjects, as travels, litterature, history, etc., including a history of "Olimpiada Popular de Barcelona" of July 1936, published with occasion of The Barcelona Olympic Games of 1992. Tsutomu Takagi tried the chapter 3 "Spain" because Harry talks here about Jack Shirai, as you remember. He sent the translation to Kawanari Sensei some days ago. Now we are waiting news from Japan.
